Sunshine Meadows Hike / Sunshine Village

A rare place of beauty—that’s what makes the Sunshine Meadows experience truly unforgettable. Perched at 7,000 feet above sea level, it’s not just a destination; it’s a perspective shift.
We began our journey aboard the Standish Express Chairlift, the highest lift-accessed sightseeing point in the Banff and Lake Louise area. From there, we gained access to three pristine alpine lakes, each more breathtaking than the last.
Surrounded by the iconic peaks of the Canadian Rockies, we were treated to sweeping 360-degree views that left us speechless. At the Standish Viewing Deck, we paused to take it all in before splitting into groups to explore the trails.
Along the way, we stumbled upon a group of painters immersed in a watercolor workshop, capturing the landscape’s magic with every brushstroke. Their quiet focus added a layer of serenity to the already peaceful surroundings.
Some of us stopped by a lake for lunch, where we relaxed, breathed in the crisp mountain air, and let the scenery wash over us. It was a moment of stillness in a place that invites reflection.
On our return to the Gondola, a few us some were able to see a wee bit of Mt. Assiniboine making an appearance through the clouds, off in the distance, before gathering outdoors at Trappers, sharing stories and laughter. We talked about the day’s highlights and marveled at the sheer beauty of being immersed in nature.
