Mount Lady Macdonald Hike
Saturday, August 15th
What a fantastic day on Mount Lady Macdonald! A wonderful group of 11 members—a mix of familiar faces and newer members—joined this challenging hike up one of Canmore’s most prominent peaks.
We climbed steadily for approximately 9 km, gaining about 1,000 meters in elevation. Reaching “the bench”, the site of the former teahouse and helipad, was quite an accomplishment—and definitely worth the effort! There were plenty of smiles at the top, where we enjoyed lunch and spectacular views of Canmore, the Bow Valley, Ha Ling Peak and the surrounding Rocky Mountains. We were also especially fortunate to have beautiful blue skies and comfortable temperatures after the recent smoky skies and rain.
After the hike, we wrapped up the day in the parking lot, reflecting on the day’s highlights and enjoying some well-deserved refreshments before saying our farewells, having had a chance to get to know one another beyond the trail.
A big thank you to everyone who came out and made it such a memorable day!
