Join me on a hike to Miner’s Peak. I have never done the hike before but I am looking forward to checking it out. This is a 7.7 km hike with an elevation gain of 800 meters. It is a challenging hike due to the elevation gain over only 3.8 km. the following is from the trail description from Alltrails:
Miner's Peak is a difficult trail that lives up to the challenge. The trail begins at a parking lot and makes its way through beautiful Canadian Rocky Mountain forest. As it starts to climb and then makes its way onto open rock and fewer trees. During the summer, the trail is mostly clear of obstructions, but it is recommended to still bringing proper climbing equipment, especially for the higher altitude sections. Since the weather and climate vary tremendously from the trailhead to the peak, it is recommended to also wear plenty of layers since the top is very cold even in summer. You may even consider bringing spikes as this is a spring hike and we may experience snow at the top. As the trail gets steeper, this is the moment where the stairs show up and take you to a scramble. Once at the ridge, the view is awesome as you tower over the town of Canmore, with the accomplishment of having climbed this striking mountain. The descending portion of this hike is also fairly difficult as you zig-zag back to the base, often against traffic moving up.
