This event will open to registrations on Tuesday, November 18th at 6:00 p.m.


• Event color rating:  Blue and Black (Moderate to Advanced)
• Distance:  18 to 24 kms,  4 to 5 hours of continuous skiing, including short 5-min breaks every hour or so

• Pace:  5 to 6 km/h average

• Trailhead:         LL Bow River Loop trailhead (40 meters South of LL Railway Station & Restaurant) 

• Elevation Gain:  300 to 350 meters
• Driving distance to trailhead:
   170 km one way (1 hour 45 minutes approx.) x 2 = 340 kms

• Carpooling Departure Time:  Meet at 7:25 a.m. leave by 7:35 a.m. 

• Carpooling Fees:       340 km x $0.20/km = approx. $68 per vehicle, divided among all vehicle occupants

• Plan A: From the Bow River, ski up the Tramline trail, then up to the Chateau parking lot, then ski down to Moraine Lake Road (MLR) and start skiing up MLR (most likely not all the way to the end). Turn around after 3 hours and ski down. Each skier skies at their preferred pace in small groups of 2 to 4, and the larger group stops at all major trail intersections. Some of us will ski 18 kms while others will ski more.
• Tramline section: 7.5 kms return
• MLR to Chateau section: 4.5 kms return
• MLR: Up to 16 kms return 

Other important info
•  Events are subject to cancellation or change on short notice due to inclement weather.
•  Carpooling: use your own discretion and what you are comfortable with.  
•  Porta Potty toilets are available at the trailhead.
•  Please make yourself aware of the risks in participating in this event and decide accordingly, including risks of frostbites, icy conditions, steep hills, novice  skiers on the trails, etc.
•  Gear: proper winter Nordic skiing clothing (a few thin layers, a warmer jacket for longer breaks, plus spare toque, gloves/mitts), water, food/snacks, Nordic skiing gear, and a small first aid kit. Nice to have: Thermos with a hot beverage!
•  Please do not sign up if you are experiencing any flu like or cold symptoms.
•  Trip participants will be asked to provide their cell contact information and emergency contact information to the trip coordinator prior to the event.

Registration is required before Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 4:00 PM and it opens Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 6:00 PM
Please cancel your registration by 6 pm the night before the trip if you can no longer attend.
Registration cancellations will be accepted until Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 4:00 PM

Please read carefully,

It is your responsibility to obtain appropriate cancellation and medical insurance.

Refunds will be paid in Calgary Ski Club (CSC) points only.

To cancel your registration for an event:

a) Before the cancellation cutoff date, log in to the website and use the "Cancel Registration" button on the event. If it is a paid event, you will be refunded in CSC points.

b) After the cancellation cutoff date, notify the Event Host. A refund may be provided using CSC points but only if the event is full and someone fills your spot.

Free Events

To cancel your registration for an event that does not involve payment, follow the above procedure. If you need to cancel at the last-minute, contact the host via text or email. If you are running late, notify the host as soon as safely possible. Do not be a no-show. This means people may be waiting unnecessarily for you and may mean other members may not be able to attend when there are limited spots. No-shows may be banned from future events.
